Rumi's Teachings
We have discussed a lot in our earlier discussions so I feel to levitate you and give you a little push it's essential to share the writings and teachings of some mystics or philosophers. Like many other mystics, Rumi's philosophy strikes directly at your heart, so it will soothe you and bring you some more understanding and comfort.
For those who don't know this great mystic, I will give a little introduction here and then share some of his quotes with little commentary.
Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi was a 13th century Persian Muslim poet, theologian & mystic. His poems are widely celebrated up until present times and also his works are translated into many languages. Among his works now I will discuss below some of the excerpts as quotes from his works, so reverberate with them and feel them from the bottom of your heart. So let's begin this life-changing experience together!
1)
"Don't avoid tough situations, they are wonderful teachers"
As discussed earlier each and everything can teach something or the other to the mind hungry for knowledge and the truth. As it's rightly said that "The night never remains forever, the sun will surely rise in the sky'. So never lose heart in any situation and keep playing and learning. Also when you will have a learning attitude then nothing can make you feel down as you will find opportunities in it also and it will lose its adverse effects on you.
2)
"Don't allow things outside yourself to control your emotions"
The world outside will present multiple conditions and experiences but never allow these to affect you. Always remember that you are the captain here and just observe and learn but don't let it change your path. If you are agitated then you have lost control of your ship and it will sail without any goal and will eventually sink into the ocean. So take charge.
3)
"Love is everything"
The above quote is like a nuclear bomb packed in three words. The love mentioned above is not just simple love of like attraction between couples or of paternal/maternal love etc, it's just an ineffable experience of unity to which he is alluding. He is all immersed in love and for him now nothing is left to be done, it's only the love with which the universe gets its energy to survive. He is speaking of divine love which is beyond any explanation.
4)
"You have a purpose here far beyond what you have been told"
It elucidates the fact that we are not just flesh and bones. We are divine beings having an earthly experience. So don't get messed up your whole life just with maintaining the balance sheet, it's much more to explore for your and the world's benefits, don't let yourself be satisfied with the normal. Strive for perfection and claim your divine position with truth and love.
5)
"Open your hands if you want to be held"
Here Rumi is indicating the self-surrender process where the individual is in complete pure love with his maker. He has left all the conventional thoughts and workings, whatever comes in his way is god for him and he makes no judgments. So he is forever free and in bliss beyond definition. Happiness doesn't come from outside, it's just all inside which is seen outside.
I hope the above quotes surely have rejuvenated your heart and soothed your restless mind. I will introduce such things also in between our discussions to refresh our minds and bring more faith in it.
